Today has been a nice productive day. The sun was shining, the temperature was in the 70's and I believe spring is finally here! We spent the day doing the normall homeowner projects. Raking the yard, filling the bird feeders and burning piles of brush. Around 3:30 we had a tiny rain shower, but after about 25 minutes it cleared right up and back outside we went. We are completely exhausted and ready to hit the showers, but its been a great day.
I am in the process of renovating our entire yard. We've been "under construction" for about 2 years so its nice to finally have my yard free of trucks hauling lumber, ladders everywhere and just piles of junk in every corner. I spent the day making a blue print of where I want new trees and shrubbery and flowers. We bought our house 6 years ago. Just a little tiny-I mean TINY house located in a great neighborhood with serious potential. When we purchased this house for the HUGE sum of $32,000 it had NO bathroom, 1 bedroom and some really awful carpeting and linoleum. Well, with a little help from some friends and our families, we added a bathroom, ripped out the icky floors(which revealed BEAUTIFUL hardwoods) and made it a cute little place. Since then, we've cut out walls, renovated our kitchen, added an entire upstairs which inreturn added 3 bedrooms, another full bathroom and this summer...new siding!! Some people thought we were crazy taking on a project like this, but we love so many things about our little house, the cove ceilings in the dining room, the rain-cistern in the basement and other fun little quirky things that new houses don't come equiped with. When we started this project out, we had NO idea what we were doing. Neither of us had ANY carpentry skills and neither of us like heights, so its been interesting in some places. But with a little hardwork and willing to dive into it head first, we have done quite well if I do say so myself..
I am so proud of my very handy husband for all the books he's read, questions he's asked and for just having enough confidence in himself to tackle this renovation despite all the "you have no clue what you're getting yourself into!!" remarks.
Honey, you're the best and I'm so proud of you, what you've done and what you keep doing to help make our little house a HOME.
In between all of our projects, we have been checking in on ESPN all day(tivo'd) following the NFL draft. Sending best wishes to our former McBain High School football player who is awaiting his turn in the NFL draft. We are so proud of him and his achievements!
Congrats to Daniel, we're so happy for you!
